Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has raised a rhetorical question to the public.
In a post on her Instagram story, she questioned why we are alive, why we are still breathing, and what our purpose is on earth. She asked if anyone had asked themselves why they were still on earth and why others who are better and kinder are dead.
She urged those religious fanatics not to use Christianity as an excuse, as she noted how many who were more religious are dead.
“I have a simple but important question for everyone today: Why are we alive?
Have you ever truly asked yourself that?
Why are you still here while so many others, some better, kinder, more faithful, are gone?
What’s your purpose?
Please, don’t give the default answers like God loves me” or it’s grace. Yes, grace is real.
Yes, God loves you. But he loved them too. So again, I ask: Why are you still breathing? What are you here to do?
And please don’t come at me with the usual line:
I’m here to win souls for Christ.
It sounds noble, sure, but let’s be real: Many people who were far more effective at that than you are are no longer here.
You’re not out-preaching them.
So, again, I ask: What is your real purpose?
What’s your actual contribution to people, to your community, to this moment in time?”.
A few days back, Mary questioned the benefits of joining Nollywood guilds and associations. The wife of Iroko TV boss revealed that a budding filmmaker asked her about the benefits of joining the guilds, and she couldn’t give a clear answer.
Back in 2023, Njoku posed an important question to celebrities on life after stardom. Pointing out how no one stays at the top forever, Mary questioned what would become of them once their fame ended. She further asked if they have a real life to fall back on or have burnt down their real life.
Last year, the wife of Jason Njoku had sent a wake-up call to social media users. She revealed that she misses the days when people would confront others when they mess up and have team conversations with them. She noted how what people do these days is to become keyboard warriors and seek sympathy and temporary fame.
