Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior has welcomed competition from Jurrien Timber, who is making his way to the Emirates from Ajax this summer.
Mikel Arteta’s side is expected to finalise for the Dutch international from the Dutch giants in the coming weeks.
Ajax have rejected Arsenal’s first bid for the centre-back, but the Gunners returned with a second, improved offer over the weekend.
There is a belief that both clubs will meet in the middle as Timber has his heart set on a move to the Premier League.
Timber has already agreed on personal terms with the Gunners last week and is set to sign a five-year contract with the Premier League giants.
His arrival at the Emirates would mean that Poland international Kiwior would be faced with fierce competition for a place in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI.
“I’m glad there is going to be more competition,” Kiwior told Polish outlet Meczyki when asked about the possibility of incoming signings before asking the reporter: “Who is coming?”
After being told that it looks like Timber will be heading to Arsenal, Kiwior replied: “It is great that he is joining.
“Let the best players play at Arsenal. Let’s win matches and win trophies together,” he said.
