Following Real Madrid’s Champions League final victory against Liverpool, Florentino Perez, the club’s president, claimed that any discussion of Kylian Mbappe’s transfer has been forgotten.
Los Blancos won their fourteenth Champions League title thanks to Vinicius Junior’s lone goal, ensuring Real finished the season on a high note.
The win came less than a week after Manchester City beat Jurgen Klopp’s side to the English Premier League title, therefore ending Liverpool’s ambitions of completing a quadruple.
Real Madrid won their 35th La Liga title this season, and they had been tracking Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe, according to Mirror.
Mbappe startled the La Liga giants when he confirmed a contract extension with the Parisians after more than a year of being connected with the club, with suspicions that he had already agreed to personal terms with Real Madrid.
The attacker had also intimated that he might be leaving Paris for the Spanish capital, but such a move was ruled out.
Florentino Perez remarked while celebrating Real Madrid’s fourteenth Champions League championship that the club will continue to sign the greatest players, but that Mbappe no longer has a chance.
Following the match, Perez told Spanish television station Movistar:
“Real Madrid will always keep working on having the best players. But Mbappe is forgotten now. It’s fine. Madrid had a perfect season. It’s a subject that’s forgotten.”
The Madrid boss has now overseen six of Real Madrid’s 14 European Cup wins as president – in 2002, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and now 2022.
