Following a Covid-19 test that came back negative, England manager Sarina Wiegman will be in the dugout for her team’s Women’s Euro 2022 quarterfinal matchup against Spain on Wednesday night.
After testing positive for the virus and becoming the most well-known football player to date, Wiegman was compelled to watch the Lionesses’ convincing victory over Northern Ireland on Friday from a distance.
It has since been confirmed that she has recovered. During her most recent press conference, she had insisted she was feeling fit and well.
“England Head Coach Sarina Wiegman has tested negative for Covid. Wiegman will now return to all elements of her role and will take her place on the bench for tonight’s Quarter Final against Spain at the Brighton & Hove Community Stadium,” a statement read.
England has been in outstanding form throughout the tournament, scoring 14 goals without being answered in the group stages to secure the match against Spain in the quarterfinals.
La Roja, meanwhile, came in second place in Group B, defeating Denmark late in the final matchday to guarantee their advancement to the knockout rounds.
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. at the Amex Stadium, where England last week thrashed Norway 8-0.
