The head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro, has said they deserved to defeat Angola in their quarter-final tie at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ademola Lookman scored the only goal for the Super Eagles as they won 1-0 on Friday.
After the game, Peseiro eulogised his players for working hard to achieve victory.
“We played a good game, Angola showed they deserved to be here. We created two chances in the first half and hit the post in the first half.
“I’m very happy with my players. We scored once goal and could have had one or two more.
“My team did well against a good team. We controlled the game and dominated our opponent.
“In the first half, we played well, closed down the spaces and didn’t give them room to operate.
“After the break, Angola came out more and we had chances on the counter attack which we didn’t utilise.
“I’m happy for my players, we deserved to win the game. I want to congratulate them on this victory.”
