Amidst the missing child saga involving Prophet Alfa Babatunde of the Founder of Sotitobire Miracle Centre, the cleric was reportedly forced to spend the Christmas and New year celebrations at Olokuta prisons in Akure, as the matter is yet to be resolved
The self acclaimed cleric who has since been remanded by an Ondo state Magistrate court sitting at Oke-Eda Akure, over the last two weeks is said to have gone on a hunger strike over the ongoing case
His failure to have any of the festive meals provided has earned him a deteriorating health condition as he collapsed more than three times in the last one week inside the prison and rushed to the Prisons Clinic for medical attention.
It was also learnt that his beard had been shaved and hair cut by the prisons officials.
Speaking on the case of the missing of one year old boy, Gold Kolawole who mysteriously disappeared in church since November 10, 2019, a church member as well as a police official confirmed the information saying;
“yes it is true that he is feeling sick always since he got to our place, he has even collapsed more than three times but our medical people had attended to him.”
“I know he is wearing mourning look always, you know we will need to shave his head and beard, which we have done since. I was not he didn’t eat on Christmas and new year celebration days, the reasons I don’t know, but it’s true (that he is not eating), said the Source who preferred to speak anonymously.
It may be recalled that the “man of God” had burst into tears as he was moved out of the court into the black maria few days to the Christmas.
He was led into the black maria at the court with six other members of the church arraigned with him.
Prophet Alfa had been arrested by officials of the DSS four weeks ago following a petition by the missing boy’s mother, Mrs. Modupe Kolawole who claimed that she dropped him off at the church’s children department.
According to her, the church officials as well as the Nigerian Police had failed to intervene in the situation which led to her escalating the issue to the State Security.
The situation reached its crescendo and gained public attention on December 18, 2019, when angry youths attacked and razed the church over rumours that the corpse of the missing baby was exhumed from the church altar.
Prophet Alfa will be in the prison till January 14, 2020, the next adjourned date.
The Clergyman and six others were charged for the following offences:
The charge sheet read, “That you Prophet Alfa Babatunde ’m’, Omodara Olayinka ’f’, Margaret Oyebola ‘f’, Grace Ogunjobi ‘f’, Egunjobu Motunrayo ’f’, Esther Kayode ’f’, Peter Anjorin ‘m’ others now at large on the 10th day of November 2019 at about 11:45 am at Sotitobire Praising Chapel, No. 48, Solagbade Street, Oshinle Quarters, Akure, Ondo State in the Akure Magisterial District did conspire together to commit felony to Wit: Kidnapping and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. I, Laws of Undo State 2006.
“That you Prophet Alfa Babatunde ’m’, Omodara Olayinka ’f’, Margaret Oyebola ‘f’, Grace Ogunjobi ‘f’, Egunjobu Motunrayo ’f’, Esther Kayode ’f’, Peter Anjorin ‘m’ and others now at large on the 10th day of November 2019 at about 11:4Sam at Sotitobire Praising Chapel, No. 48, Solagbade Street, Oshinle Quarters, Akure, Ondo State in the Akure Magisterial District did aid the kidnap of one Gold Eninlaloluwa Kolawole ’m’ aged 13-month and -thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 5(i) of the Ondo State Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Abduction Law, 2010.
“That you PETER ANJORIN ‘m’ on the 10th day of December 2019 at about 2:00 pm at the premises of the Department of State Service, Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State in the Akure Magisterial District did destroy evidence by secretly taken away the vital evidence that would have aid speedy investigation in respect of the missing child (Gold Eninlaloluwa Kolawole) and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 123 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. I, Laws of Ondo State 2006.”
