With a Nollywood film title like “Blood Hound”, you are bound to have high expectations of the film. However, I cannot say for sure if “Blood Hound” is as captivating as its title or just another Nollywood disaster.
Well, let’s analyze it together.
Blood Hound is the story of a young man Owei who was an armed robber working with a particular police officer who sent him on his missions. He and his other gang member in one of their mini operations killed the only son of a rich man, and the man was bent on getting revenge on the death of his son.
Owei and his gang became the most wanted armed robbery in the state, and the story revolves around how the police tried arresting them. Did the plan of the police succeed, or were Owei and his gang able to escape?
The storyline and plot of Blood Hound aren’t so clear, and I doubt the writer took his/her to write a proper script. Somehow, the story was disjointed with so many unnecessary scenes. The story had the prospect of being an intelligent and captivating one, but the plot was a total error. You might find yourself wondering when watching the importance of some scenes in the movie. Also, you are about 30 minutes into the film before you even understand whatever director the story is going. In short, Blood Hound doesn’t have a great plot.
The Directing of Blood Hound is one of the film’s major problems. Too many unbelievable actions and I wonder if the director was playing on the viewers’ intelligence. For instance, how is it that a very sick wife of a rich man is in the house and not the hospital? How is it that they killed someone in a distant place and then boom, his body is in front of his father’s house by morning? How is it that only five policemen went to raid a cartel of robbers? They even opened the gate, drove in, and no one heard inside the house? There are several others like that, and they are disturbing because these are avoidable errors. The directing of Blood Hound is a total disaster.
The acting was another disaster that made watching Blood Hound even more boring. Asides from a few actors like Wale Ojo, Eddie Watson, and Abayomi Alvis, the acting was nothing to write home about. There were few fair actors like Belinda Effa and Efe Irele who also held the story a little but largely, it was filled with bad acting. The most annoying scene was when Eddie’s son in the movie was shot in his leg and hand, and he was shouting like it was a slap they gave him. Gunshot o and I kept wondering if he would believe his own acting.
The cinematography, costume, and make-up weren’t bad as they could pass for average, and at least, seeing good pictures was enough to keep us in the cinema till the end of the movie.
Blood Hound would score 3/10
