Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has joined the many celebrities kicking against infidelity being a deal breaker in marriages.
In an interview with her junior colleague, Biola Bayo, on her show, Talk to B, she stated that infidelity shouldn’t be a reason a woman lets go of her man. For her, the deal breaker in any marriage should be when their spouse physically assaults them.
The movie star, who turned 61 days back, recounted how she cancelled her wedding with her former partner over battery. According to her, her ex was physically assaulting her even when she was carrying his baby.
“I had to choose between my profession and to marry a guy, and I chose my job. He gave me an option, and I chose my job.
At one point, I regretted that decision, but after that, I was like, ‘Oh wow, thank god I chose my path’.
I didn’t talk about it to the press; this is the first time I am saying it. I left him because of the battery. For me, infidelity, yes, but it isn’t enough for you to let go of your man. But, if it’s battery, I advise any woman to, in fact, not take any of their property and run for your life because they will never stop. Once a man lifts his hand on you, he won’t stop.
“For me, infidelity, yes. But it’s not really enough for you to let go of your man. I called off my wedding two days before because that day, he gave me a beating of my life. I was pregnant then, and I was like, is this what I’m entering? Because he has never done it before.”
Ngozi Nwosu isn’t the only one who doesn’t see infidelity as a deal breaker. In February, Yetunde Kuti, the wife of controversial singer Seun Kuti, in an interview with TVC ‘Your View’, stated that infidelity isn’t a deal breaker for her.
Similarly, the singer’s aunt, Yeni Kuti, also stated that infidelity is not a deal breaker in marriage. Referring to how her late father married several women, she insisted that she would never leave her home for another woman as she revealed the only deal breaker in her marriage is when her husband cheats with his fellow man.
Veteran actress Patience Ozokwor revealed that she can’t leave her husband over infidelity. She stated that she can’t leave her husband’s house for anyone because the side chick is the visitor and, as such, must leave for her. Mama G, as she is fondly called, went on to list out the things she would do to secure her home.
To add to it, Desola Afod, the wife of Yoruba actor Kunle Afod, in an interview, vowed never to leave her husband even if he cheats on others. She noted how leaving her husband over infidelity wouldn’t guarantee that the next man she would meet would stay faithful to her. Desola stated that though her husband isn’t perfect, he is a good man, and as long as he doesn’t physically assault her, she doesn’t see any reason why she would leave him
