Nollywood stars, entertainers, and lovers of award-winning actress, Funke Akindele came out in large numbers to show their support for the queen of Box office movies.
On Wednesday night, in celebration of her milestone achievement of grossing over a billion in Cinemas, an event was held to celebrate the queen which was tagged A Toast To Funke Akindele.
The event which was in collaboration with an automobile company, GAC Motor Nigeria and FilmOne entertainment hosted the likes of Iyabo Ojo, Eniola Ajao, Sola Sobowale, Taaooma, Bisola Aiyeola, Groovy, Timini, Diadem, Adunni Ade, Yvonne Jegede, Simi Drey, Kehinde Bankole, Omowunmi Dada, the cast of A Tr!be Called Judah and more.
Videos online captured the moments celebrities arrived at the event in their stunning outfits. From the look of it, there is no doubt that they all enjoyed their time honoring the Queen of Box Office.
Speaking of Iyabo Ojo, it wasn’t surprising to see her at the event as she and Funke Akindele have reconciled after years of beefing.
Recall that Funke Akindele and Iyabo once fell out and were at loggerheads for years now, after Iyabo dragged Funke when a blogger criticised Toyin Abraham’s movie, The Ghost and The Tout.
Also, on the 9th of December 2021 when Eniola Badmus celebrated her 20 years in Nollywood, and Funke Akindele didn’t show up, Iyabo Ojo threw a subtle shade at her.
There were speculations that Funke Akindele shunned the event to avoid any drama with Iyabo Ojo and Toyin Abraham following their long-time beef.
However, Iyabo Ojo and Funke Akindele put their beef aside by embracing and exchanging pecks at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award season 8 in 2022.
Funke had even celebrated Iyabo on her 45th birthday and had attended her birthday party, to the surprise of many, and in return, Iyabo had also graced some of Funke’s events.
Last year, Funke recounted how her colleagues, Iyabo and Sikiratu Sindodo helped her up the ladder and fought for her during her early career days.
According to her, she was being stereotyped because of her physical appearance which many considered ‘ugly’, and was only cast for Waka pass roles. This led to her breaking down on one of her movie sets and Iyabo and Sikiratu stood up for her.
